The sequel is hopeless? The producer of "Dead Space" retires sadly and laments the difficulty of the game industry
The classic horror game "Death Space" created by Glen Schofield is still widely regarded as one of the best works in the history of the game. The veteran producer also launched the "Iopa Agreement" in 2022, and fans are still looking forward to his new work, although the response has not met expectations. However, Glenn Schofield seems to be considering leaving the gaming industry.
Recently, he posted on his LinkedIn personal homepage, talking about his future in the gaming industry. He first admitted that the entire game development field is facing severe challenges, and emphasized that this dilemma will affect all practitioners: "The game industry is difficult now."
Glenn revealed that in the past eight months, he and his daughter have conceived and developed a brand new horror game project, and the initial meetings have received positive responses. But the budget for the project became a major obstacle. Their initial budget target was $17 million, but investors hoped to squeeze it to $10 million. What is even more worrying is that this number appears to have been further cut to around $5 million in recent months.
Faced with this situation, the father of "Dead Space" finally withdrew from his daughter's project. He even said that the "Iopa Agreement" is likely to be the last work he participated in the development. Glenn also mentioned a regrettable fact: his daughter has also left Striking Distance Studios after the release of the Iroine Agreement.
