"Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2" "Siege Mode" update details were announced

Developer Saber Interactive has released more details about the upcoming large-scale update of Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, which will bring a new "siege" mode. Game Studio revealed that players' progress in siege mode will be shared with the progress in Operations mode.

In siege mode, three players (up to one) can earn points by destroying all enemies appearing in each wave. But it is worth noting that the scores earned per wave are shared by three players; if a wave rewards the team with 600 points, each player will eventually get 200 points. These scores can be used at the expropriation terminal to purchase new equipment and reinforcements, including Cadian soldiers and Space Marines.

Every five waves of enemies attack, players can change areas through the elevator. Complete each area and players will receive richer rewards, including more requisition points and armory data that can be used to upgrade weapons.

At present, the studio is testing siege mode through a public test server in the game beta branch. When launched on June 26, Siege mode will be available to all players as a free update.

In addition to the siege mode, "Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2" will also add two new appearance packs: the White Scar Battle Team Pack and the Blood Angel Appearance Pack.

As early in May, Saber Interactive's chief creative officer Tim Willits said that the siege mode in "State Marine 2" will not be directly related to the main campaign. Although tasks in Operations mode often occur in parallel with events in the main line campaign, Siege mode will be completely independent of the main line.

Willitz explained: "In the first mission, Titus and his squad passed through the Empire Fortress, reactivated the antenna so that the orbital gun could fire at the Zerg honeycomb ship above. In Siege mode, our mission was to defend the fortress, but we could explore more areas."

Willitz also confirmed that although Siege mode would bring a brand new gaming experience to the player, the mode would not introduce any new enemy types. He also pointed out that in addition to the Hive Lord in Operation Decapitation mission and the Behemoth in Operation Decapitation, all enemies in the game have the potential to become opponents in Siege mode. However, new enemy types are expected to be released in subsequent updates.

Talking about the difficulty of the siege mode, Wiltz said that players will face "more trumpet and large enemies. More extreme enemies. There are more Terminator leaders. Sometimes even face several leaders at once, the scene will become very chaotic!"

"Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2" is now available on PC, PS5 and XSX/XSS platforms.
