Gears of War: Reloading" developer The Coalition participated in the official Xbox podcast program and revealed more details about the upcoming replica game. Let’s learn about it together.

In this podcast, game technology director Kate Reiner and studio head Mike Krump talked about a series of different topics, including discussing why the production of "Gears of War: Reload" is more complicated for the studio than a simple replica game. When asked whether Gears of War: Reload is a remake or a remake, Reiner said: "We took full advantage of modern hardware to fully remake and enhance the game. We went back to the original game and increased the resolution by 900%, which is 9 times, and doubled the frame rate. The campaign mode is now running at 60 frames per second, and multiplayer mode supports /60 frames per second and /120 frames per second. The game also supports variable refresh rates, supports native HDR effects, and unlocks 4K material and super-resolution textures, which are not available in the console's original game. We also adopted 7.1.4 surround sound technology and improved lighting, shadows and reflection effects, truly bringing the game's game quality on all login platforms to a full remake level."

Reiner continued: "Gears of War: Reload supports real 4K resolution and 60 frames per second, and from the improvements we have made, you can see a lot of details. For example, carbon fiber on Marcus' armor, enhanced texture details brought by normal maps and 4K textures in the environment, and pond reflections, right? Those reflections are generated in real time."

In multiplayer, Reiner confirmed that Gears of War: Reload will have a fully modern backend system to support online multiplayer and matching mechanisms. This includes dedicated servers for PvP multiplayer games that will be expanded by adding more data centers around the world. The server's data polling frequency also reaches 60 Hz, further reducing the latency faced by players.

The PC version of "Gears of War: Reload" will also be optimized to a considerable extent. Renner pointed out that the PC version of this work is not a simple port. "We optimized the game for what players expect on PC, we removed the frame limit to enable the game to support 4K resolution and 5K ultra-wide screen resolution, and the game will adapt to its resolution no matter what device you run on. We have done a lot of work on scalability to support a variety of devices on the market, including laptops and PC game handhelds."

Gears of War: Reloading" will be available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms on August 26. In addition, the multiplayer test of the game will be launched on June 13, so stay tuned.
