While the first trailer for "007: The Light" shows the action scenes in the game, suggesting that the upcoming 007 game may focus on action elements, IO Interactive's series director Jonathan Lacayer explained that the upcoming James Bond game will be much more than that.

In an interview with GamesRadar, Rakayer talked about the studio's hope to balance "007: The Light of the Light" in the action part of the game and a more open, system-based gameplay like the Killer series.

Racayer said: "Either it's the gameplay full of action scenes, or the gameplay that "Killer" focuses on the game system. IO Interactive has its tradition, which is very consistent with the IP, so we certainly tend to this style. But this doesn't fully show the full picture of Bond."

Racayer continued: "We rely heavily on what IOI do best, but we also have to come up with a lot of new ideas, and IOI also have to learn and practice it repeatedly to truly bring a complete Bond experience. For example, driving, they haven't done it before, and we are doing it now."

Lacayer also talked about the gameplay of "007: The First Light" is in sharp contrast with "The Killer", and its action scenes are richer. In "The Killer", pulling out a gun and participating in a gun battle is considered a "failure condition", while in "007: The Light of Dawn", players are not only able to participate in a fierce gun battle, but also come up with other solutions, thus "feeling as smart as Bond."

Lacayer explained: "In the "Killer" series, shooting is usually just a secondary means, and in this game, shooting accounts for a large part of it. But we don't want the game to just keep shooting, shooting, and shooting again. So we want to provide players with a lot of tools to be as smart as Bond in the game."

Just last week, the gameplay of "007: The Light of the Light" was shown through a trailer, giving us a glimpse of some of the weapons and props that players can use when playing James Bond. The trailer also revealed that the game will be available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms in 2026.

About the game plot, earlier this week, level designer Martin Anderthal of the "Killer" series revealed that "007: The Light of Dawn" will tell a brand new story, and the story of the game takes place in the original universe. He also noted that IO Interactive has no plans to have the upcoming game collaborate with numerous films in the James Bond series.

Andsar said: "What you saw in "007: The Light of Dawn" is a completely original Bond, and a completely original world. I think they really want to design a Bond for video games, and it must be a unique and independent world. So there is no plan to connect at the moment."

As for other forms of linkage, Andesar also pointed out that villain Lezifer in "007: The Great War of Casino Royale" Such a character does not exist in "007: The Light of Dawn". However, he is easily seen in the Killer game and becomes one of the elusive targets.
