"Iron Fist 8" is deeply trapped in the quagmire of bad reviews, and offensive gameplay has become the "culprit"?

"Tekken 8 (Tekken 8)" is currently in trouble in the game with the player group, and its second season update encountered almost one-sided negative reviews, causing the game's recent reviews on the Steam platform to plummet to "bad reviews".

From the data, in the past 30 days, only 14% of the reviews were positive, and although the overall review of the game was still "commonly praised and criticized", Steam has marked this situation as an evaluation bombing incident. However, it is still questionable whether this mark is completely accurate - indeed, not every bad review is profound, but obviously, the changes in the second season are not recognized by players.

Some of the problems stem from the excessive tendency of "Iron Fist 8" to play the gameplay in an offensive way. This is in sharp contrast to the previous work "Iron Fist 7", which prefers defensive and negative gameplay in the later stages.

However, the player group does not buy into the more offensive design idea of "Iron Fist 8". For a while ago, Bandai Namco seemed to have noticed the players' dissatisfaction. In the live broadcast before the announcement of the season two changes, the developers' statements made people think that they would pay more attention to defensive gameplay.

But the actual situation is completely opposite. Not only did the developer not strengthen the defensive gameplay, he instead enhanced some characters that should have been weakened, such as Brian. This made fans feel that the character lineup has lost its characteristics to a large extent and has become the same, as if it was just a random combination of moves, and each character lacks unique weaknesses to achieve diversified gameplay.

The current top negative review on Steam bluntly stated: "No one asked to make these changes at all. Even new players never hope to add more offensive settings to a game that obviously lacks defense options and is as easy as most Iron Fist games to win by pressing buttons randomly."

Steam users and "Iron Fist" competitive player "IncosiderateRaccoon" also expressed their dissatisfaction in the evaluation: "Developers do not understand the characters they designed. They see that the characters have advantages and disadvantages, but they do not allow the characters to retain these shortcomings. On the contrary, they make the characters homogenize, making the characters more and more similar, resulting in the characters being too powerful."

In the days after the patch was released, players' boycott did not fade, which seemed to prompt the game supervisor Katsuhiro Harada to respond quickly on Twitter. Replying to the discussions between producer Michael Murray and many fans, he said: "I know very well that the current result is a disconnect between the needs of the player group and the results of the game adjustment."

He further said: "Our combat and adjustment team is fighting day and night, carefully reading all feedback from the player group, and formulating future improvement policies and changes."

This is a relatively short and tactful response. While developers have promised to solve some of the game's balancing problems—currently focused on Paul and Jack 8's moves—it's not clear how long it will take to implement major reforms to address the most dissatisfied issues that players are currently most dissatisfied.
