The yellow paint mark in "AC Shadow" caused controversy. What design considerations are hidden behind it?

Assassins Creed Shadows has received widespread praise for its stealth gameplay and open world maps, but one of the small designs has caused controversy - the developer marked all the sills and edges available for parkour with yellow paint.

Creative Director Jonathan Dumont revealed to GamesRadar that the original version of the game did not actually use the yellow paint marking, but during the test, the tester frequently reported that it was difficult to identify climbable objects, so the team added the design. Dumont explained: "When performing hidden path tasks, players often get lost in lush and complex environments, and we realize that we must provide clearer guidance."

This visual guidance mechanism is not new in the gaming industry. As the game's picture gets closer and closer to reality, since early works in the PS4 era, the development team often uses highlight colors (such as the white cloth in Assassin's Creed 2) to identify interactive elements. Dumont said: "When the game world is rich enough, appropriate prompts can improve the player's gaming experience."

Dumont also revealed last month that although this game has experienced multiple delays, the team did not make major changes to the core content, but focused on polishing the details: "We used the extra time to eliminate bugs in the game to ensure the smooth game process." The only thing that was added was some character interactive plots, "The testers like this kind of content very much, so we appropriately expanded this part of the content."
