"Night King's Landing" online problems continue, and the official releases temporary solutions
FromSoftware officially responded to the online matching problem that broke out on the first weekend of "ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN" and provided phased solutions to the player group. This multiplayer online work derived from the world view of "Eldon's Ring" has caused widespread discussion in the community due to a failure in the matching mechanism.
On May 31, the official social media account issued a statement saying: "It has been noted that some players have encountered matching difficulties when starting the expedition, and it is recommended to try to restart the matching process to improve the experience." Although the suggestion was rated by players as "treating symptoms but not root causes", it is at least confirmed that the technical team is involved.
In response to the centralized feedback from PlayStation platform users, FromSoftware adds a special guide:
PS4/PS5 players need to check NAT type: The developer pointed out that "NAT type 3 may hinder the online function of PSN", players can confirm the current network status through the path Home > Settings > Network > Connection Status > Check Connection Status > Check Connection Status.
The Xbox platform has no special plans: Currently, Microsoft-based host users have not received targeted repair suggestions.
At its first day sales exceeded 2 million copies, game producer Taida Kitao responded to the controversy through social media. He compared "Night Land" with FromSoftware's past works: "Just as the first generation of "Devil Souls" or "Sekiro" was released, the unique challenge design of this work may discourage some players, but after crossing the initial obstacles, its sense of accomplishment will be irreplaceable."
Kei Ou emphasized the "exclusiveness" of the core experience of the game: "We deliberately retained some high-difficulty mechanisms, which is not a flaw, but the traditional genes of FromSoftware's works."
Although its sales are impressive, "Night Land" still maintains an overall evaluation of "common praise and criticism" on the Steam platform. Players' dissatisfaction is mainly focused on:
Imbalance in difficulty of single player mode: lack of dynamic balance mechanism, and the BOSS battle error tolerance rate is extremely low;
The lack of cooperative function: no native two-player mode, forcing three-player teams to form a team, resulting in "unable teammates" becoming the norm;
Old interaction design: no built-in voice chat, fuzzy task guidance and other retro settings;
Matching system failure: poor cross-platform online stability, and PSN users are particularly restricted by NAT types.
FromSoftware has announced that it will release its first round of patches next week, focusing on fixing the single-player game experience, but it has not clarified the timetable for fixing online problems. This debate over "hard-core design" and "player-friendliness" may continue to affect the long-term reputation of the game.
