The recall of 490,000 power banks has reopened, and Romes officially released the latest statement!

Recently, the power bank brand Romes has been caught in a public opinion storm due to large-scale recall incidents and rumors of shutdowns. Its latest statement has become a hot search on Weibo, attracting widespread attention.

Today, Shenzhen Romes Technology Co., Ltd. issued a statement through its official Weibo @ROMOSS Romes, emphasizing that the main members of the company's operation team are still on duty, the recall service is valid for a long time, and has opened a "efficient recall channel" for the WeChat service account, promising that every application will be handled seriously.

This storm originated in mid-June. Romes announced the recall of three models of mobile power supplies produced between June 2023 and July 2024, involving up to 491,000 units, because some product battery cells have risks of overheating and burning. Subsequently, the company's operating conditions sparked speculation. In early July, some employees revealed that Romes had notified the entire suspension of work and production, and the salary was only paid until June. There were even rumors that "five core bosses fled to Malaysia."

Although Romans urgently denied the rumors late at night on July 3 that it had "did not go bankrupt", the company's legal representative changed many times in the short term and the e-commerce platform flagship stores gradually closures have still aggravated the outside world's doubts.

On July 6, Romes officially issued a notice of suspension of work to employees, announcing that it will suspend work for 6 months from July 7, and only relevant positions will be retained. The remaining employees will be paid at normal wages in the first month, and the living expenses will be paid at 80% of the local minimum wage standard from the next month. At the same time, consumers reported that the recall process was blocked. Some users were told that "the seller's account balance was insufficient" when applying for a refund, and the customer service responded slowly, and even "no reply was not read".

In response to the above dispute, Romes stated in its latest statement that the company is making strategic adjustments to give priority to all available resources to protect users' rights and interests, and emphasized that the recall service is not affected by time or region.

According to the inquiry, the previously closed Tmall flagship store has resumed operations, but JD’s self-operated store still only sells data cables and other accessories, and power bank products have not yet been re-listed. Industry analysts believe that this crisis exposed Romes' shortcomings in product quality control and crisis response. Whether it can rebuild consumer trust through recalls and internal rectification still needs to be observed.
